Aston Martin Boss Reveals Key to Function With ‘Difficult to Work’ Fernando Alonso
Aston Martin’s ace driver Fernando Alonso is infamous for his ‘difficult to work with’ persona in the F1. However, his current team boss Mike Krack has a way of dealing with the Spanish that makes life easier for everyone, reports Minutod.
Given Alonso’s lengthy association with the sport, he brings a special prominence to the team that helps them stand out from the rest of the grid. Krack does not find Alonso’s prominence to be intimidating as he knows how to work with the experienced driver in a way that keeps the team functioning smoothly.
Mike Krack has decoded the secret behind how to work with Fernando Alonso
Talking about the Asturian driver, Aston Martin’s team boss said they try to work together on improving the car instead of controlling the veteran. The good results and consistently improved performances have been a result of this philosophy, says Krack.
“I don’t think we need to manage each other, because he is a member of the team, as we all are. He is the most exposed with the highest profile, so obviously, you listen to what he is doing and you care about what he is saying. But he knows we want to do this together.”
The English team was off to a flying start to the season, winning three podiums in the first three races, all going the Asturian’s way. He went on to win feature on the podium consistently, twice securing second place. However, the team’s progress has paused since the Canadian GP.
Aston Martin going through a mid-season slump
After finishing second in the Canadian GP through Alonso, Aston Martin has failed to step on the podium again. Their performances have gone down, and the team has seen a halt in their progress in the constructor’s championship.
The Silverstone-based team has acknowledged their slump in performance and has promised to come back stronger after the mid-season break. The team will feature new upgrade packs when racing resumes at Circuit Zandvoort.
