F1 Tyres 2020: Pirelli under pressure to launch a thorough investigation after a climactic British Grand Prix

Silverstone witnessed the most epic drama in the final 4 laps of the British Grand Prix with Mercedes almost losing both cars in the race, with Valtteri Bottas already getting knocked out of the race with a puncture.

This led to Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc overtaking him for the podium. However, things could have been even more dramatic if Lewis Hamilton had also not reached the finish line on time.

During the final lap, Hamilton’s front left tyre also punctured and Verstappen was just 34 seconds away from the British driver, but Hamilton kept on hustling, while Verstappen’s car was coming into his vicinity.

The gap was left near 11 seconds when Hamilton crossed the line and finally won the race, preventing the biggest upset of the season and a much-needed shakedown in the table.

But, Hamilton’s grit made him reach the touchline on time. However, it really favoured Ferrari to reach P3, as the Italian outfit has been struggling this season and Leclerc made the most out of the given opportunity.

With this, Mercedes is still at the top with the huge deficit in the rest of the constructors and Mercedes considering the previous races made them earn several points.
