Aston Martin part owner Lawrence Stroll is one of the wealthiest businessmen in the F1 community that has a huge stake in one of the top teams. And with the luxury of wealth that Lawrence has, he has used a substantial amount of it to just help his son, Lance Stroll, get into Formula 1.
While Lawrence has spent a whopping $79,000,000 to help Lance get into F1, it all started with an initial $700,000 that the Canadian billionaire spent to help his son just step into F4. During his F4 days, Lance had the best of everything and had a huge advantage over his rivals that he used to win the championship to progress to the next stage.

Even though the benchmark F4 budget was approximately $200,000 at the time, Lawrence paid a lot more to help Lance get the “best of everything, the best car, the best preparation and crucially, the best engine“. And that is not it, as Lawrence also bought a small equity share in the team.
While Lawrence’s funding played a huge role to safeguard his son’s seat, Lance also showcased his talent by winning the championship. The Canadian driver registered five pole positions, seven wins, and a total of 13 podiums. After a successful F4 season, Lance progressed to F3 the year after.
Lawrence purchased an F1 seat for $79,000,000
After ending his F4 season, Lance Stroll kick-started 2015 by winning the New Zealand-based Toyota Racing series. He registered 10 podiums that included four wins from just 16 race starts.
In the same year, the Canadian also took part in the FIA F3 European Championship with Prema Powerteam, a side in which Lawrence Stroll had previously purchased a substantial stake. Lance seemingly struggled in this competition as he only managed to finish fifth.
However, he did go up against some of the very best that include Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Alexander Albon. Following this year, Lawrence made Lance compete in another season in F3 and, alongside this, spent $79,000,000 to help his son secure a test driver role at Williams in F1. And after a second season in F3 in 2016, Lance finally made it to F1 in 2017 with Williams.
After driving for Williams for two seasons, Lawrence led a consortium of investors to buy out the Force India team and name it Racing Point. Lance spent another two full seasons driving for Racing Point, following which Lawrence rebranded the team to Aston Martin.
