Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is known for his sense of humor and he did not disappoint during an interview with TKART a year ago. During this interview, the interviewer presented Sainz with two choices for different kinds of questions and one interesting question that came up was about the 28-year-old’s interest in women.
When asked if Sainz prefers ‘blondes or brunettes,’ the Spaniard hilariously replied, “Both“. Sainz’s reply resulted in the audience bursting into laughter.
Carlos Sainz had a decent race weekend in Miami
Considering the struggles that Ferrari have had this season, Carlos Sainz put on a decent performance in Miami last week. During qualifying, the Spaniard registered an outstanding lap time that was good enough for third-fastest. He was just slower than the Red Bull of pole-sitter Sergio Perez and then the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso.
After putting on a solid performance during qualifying, he also had a decent race as he finished fifth. The only thing that perhaps could disappoint Sainz is that he finished behind the Mercedes of George Russell, who started the Miami Grand Prix in sixth.
Sainz has had a tough start to the 2023 season
While Carlos Sainz has had his troubles in the past as compared to Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, it is fair to say that he has improved significantly in recent times. Hence, when it comes to his failure to fight for podiums this season, it is not so much because of his poor performances, but because of the lack of pace that Ferrari has had this season.
The Prancing Horse has had a disastrous start to the 2023 season as they currently find themselves fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. They have just scored 78 points and are 18 points behind third-placed Mercedes, and another six points behind second-placed Aston Martin.
And when it comes to leaders Red Bull, the gap is a whopping 146 points. A similar scenario is also seen in the Drivers’ Championship, with both Ferrari drivers way behind the two Red Bulls of reigning Drivers’ Champion Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez.
Sainz is currently fifth in the Drivers’ Championship with 44 points, 61 points behind second-placed Perez and 75 points behind leader Verstappen. When it comes to Leclerc in the other Ferrari, his start to the season has been even worse than Sainz’s. The Monegasque has just scored 34 points and is currently seventh in the championship.
