Carlos Sainz Reveals What Stops Him From Teaming Up With Ferrari Teammate Charles Leclerc in Le Mans
Ferrari fans have been buzzing all over the world recently after their side clinched a historic win in Le Mans last weekend. The trio of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi produced a dominant performance to help the Prancing Horse win the race on their return to Le Mans after 50 long years. As fans continue to celebrate, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz was asked about his thoughts ahead of the Canadian GP this weekend.
The Spaniard first congratulated the team for their win before suggesting that he would like to compete in the event as well alongside current F1 teammate Charles Leclerc. However, he did state a major concern that prevents him from competing in Le Mans, along with the Monegasque.
Carlos Sainz explains why competing with Charles Leclerc in Le Mans is difficult
While speaking in an interview during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, Carlos Sainz shared his thoughts on Ferrari’s outstanding win in Le Mans last weekend. He stated that it was an incredible feat that the team achieved.
“charles said he wants to race le mans one time. how about you?”
carlos: yeah, we were talking about actually. whether we could race together in a car in le mans
“you and your father?”

On being told that Charles Leclerc said that he wanted to race in Le Mans once, Sainz replied, “We were talking about it actually if we could race together in a car in Le Mans. I would do it. It is just the calendar of F1 nowadays that does not give you much flexibility“.
Since there was no Formula 1 race last weekend, most of the Ferrari F1 team had their eyes on the Le Mans event. Both Leclerc and Sainz had also put up several posts ahead of the race and after the event to showcase their support for the team.

And considering that the Ferrari Hypercar team produced such a strong performance, it seems that it has gotten both Leclerc and Sainz excited to participate in the event.
Leclerc attended the Le Mans event to support Ferrari
Charles Leclerc has often expressed his love for the Ferrari brand, and he showcased his loyalty once again by attending the Le Mans event last weekend. The Monegasque was so excited to watch the beloved marque that he revealed that he stayed up until 4:00 AM to watch the race.
When asked to share his opinion about Ferrari’s performance, Leclerc replied to Eurosport (as quoted by motorsport.com), “It feels absolutely amazing obviously. Especially having a Ferrari winning. It’s incredible after a return after so many years. A very special edition“.

Leclerc was so excited to see Ferrari win that he also suggested that he would like to compete someday if he gets the opportunity. The 25-year-old stated that he would love to “tick that box” but that he does not know when will he get the opportunity.
With Sainz having stated that he has held discussions with Leclerc, there is indeed a possibility that the two current Ferrari teammates could compete in the same team in the Le Mans event.
