Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Laugh Through the Pain As the Ferrari Life Forces Low Standards
EA Sports’ annual Official F1 game is set to be released on 28th June. Ahead of the release, EA Sports have revealed the driver ratings for the highly anticipated game. F1 got all their drivers to guess their ratings in a fun video, but as it turns out, Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have very low expectations.
EA Sports rates the drivers on four different aspects: experience, racecraft, awareness, and pace. These four together make up the average for the overall rating. The funniest part of the video was when Leclerc and Sainz had to guess each other’s awareness rating.

The Awareness rating is a measure of the driver’s ability to stay away from incidents and avoid penalties during a race. In easier terms, the lower the awareness rating, the more prone the driver is to make mistakes.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz take their guesses
When it came to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, the duo broke into laughter immediately. Sainz couldn’t catch a breath as he asked, “In the race? or practice and quali?” With the duo’s track record in all three, it was a question worth asking. “Because in practice and quali both… we have some resentment.”
The duo made jokes at their own expense as Leclerc blurted out, “We didn’t have the best awareness!” The duo does have a bad record of crashing out during qualifying and practice, with the latest incident being Leclerc crashing out during Q3 in Miami.
Hilarity ensues as some of the grid try their *best* to guess the F1 23 driver ratings! 😆

However, both of the Ferrari drivers were generous with their ratings. Leclerc gave Sainz a rating of 88 while Sainz returned the favor with an 86 rating for the Monegasque.
The duo was in for a surprise when they finally revealed their actual ratings. Leclerc has an awareness rating of 85 whereas Sainz only has a rating of 81. The Spaniard immediately complained and said, “This is so unfair!”
Leclerc and Sainz have reason to be worried
In all honesty, Sainz has every reason to be surprised that he has a lower awareness rating than Leclerc. All the famous incidents that have happened with Ferrari in recent years have been with Leclerc behind the wheel.
Leclerc suffered crashes during both the Practise and the Qualifying sessions during the Miami GP. Before that, in the Azerbaijan GP, he crashed out during his final Q3 run.
He had an incident in the race before that as well. In Australia, the Monegasque tangled with Stroll at Turn 1 and got stuck into the gravel before recovering.
Therefore, it is evident that Leclerc has to become a bit more consistent with his performance if he wants a better rating in the F1 game, or, more importantly, if he wants to compete for the championship at some point in his career.
