“Daniel Ricciardo Is an Animal”: Max Verstappen Once Ranked His Former Teammate at Par With Koala and Kangaroo

Max Verstappen once decided to term his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo an animal and keep him at par with Koala and Kangaroo during a talk show. Verstappen and Ricciardo who are so well known for their digs pointed at each other, the Dutchman had his win this time.

The former Red Bull teammates spent three years together at Red Bull, forming a professional, healthy, and funny relationship, until things went sour in the last few months.

If taken as an example, on one such occasion, the Dutchman went on to an extreme extent to call his former teammate an animal. Although it was purely banter, Verstappen’s habit of poking the Honey Badger never ended, to be fair.

Max Verstappen called Daniel Ricciardo an animal

In a video on YouTube, the 25-year-old was seen calling his ex-Red Bull teammate an animal. However, it wasn’t him who had the idea of calling him one, it was Perez.

As the Mexican driver asked his teammate to name three animals found in Australia, the two-time world champion began, “Yeah yeah, the Koala, of course, the Kangaroo, but the third animal is a Honey Badger?”

Given the man from Land Down Under, also known as honey badger, Perez quickly reminded him of “Daniel.” Following this, the defending champion quickly responded with “Daniel [Ricciardo] is an animal” and laughed it off.

Ricciardo isn’t far behind when it comes to attacking Verstappen

As the F1, as well as Red Bull fans, are already aware of the sweet and salty relationship of the duo, Ricciardo at times gave Verstappen a taste of his own medicine as he went on to pinch the Dutch pilot on his looks.

As per a YouTube video uploaded by Red Bull back in 2018 when the duo were teammates, Ricciardo put himself ahead of Max Verstappen when it comes to looks. This happened right after the 25-year-old asked him about the similarity between them apart from their jobs.

Answering this, the Honey Badger said, “Not much. I mean, I’ve got good looks, you don’t. I’m naturally talented in other sports, you’re not,” and further went on to explain how he’s into better things. This was one of many examples of how they took digs at each other but still maintained an amicable relationship.
