Daniel Ricciardo Picks Charles Leclerc Over Fernando Alonso as Taylor Swift's Rumored Date

Formula 1 fans have been buzzing over the past week as rumors were floating around that Fernando Alonso was perhaps dating American pop star, Taylor Swift. While fans were curious in knowing if these speculations were just rumors or if there was any truth to them, one F1 driver that never bought this was Daniel Ricciardo.

When asked about which driver would be most likely to get a date with Swift, the Australian replied, “Definitely not Alonso. I called BS on that from the start. I hope I was not the only one as well“. He then added that the American pop star would be most interested in dating a driver who is interested in the arts.

When given the suggestion of Charles Leclerc or Nyck de Vries, Ricciardo replied, “They have got a starting chance for sure“. As for Alonso, Ricciardo stated that since the only thing the Spaniard is concerned about is racing, he does not see him as someone who can date Swift.

Fernando Alonso Taylor Swift dating rumors seemingly come to an end after a recent report

According to The Sun, Taylor Swift is not single as she is dating the 1975’s Matt Healy. While this is just a report, it is fair to say that Fernando Alonso and Swift’s rumored relationship is not much different either. The rumors of Alonso and Swift potentially dating was first spread on Duexmoi, an anonymous gossip page on Instagram.

Ever since these rumors attracted widespread attention, Alonso used them brilliantly to play along with them. The Spaniard has recently posted multiple Tiktok videos with various Taylor Swift references to keep his fans guessing.

Moreover, even though Alonso was asked about these rumors during his F1 interviews, he refused to give an answer and stated that he would not comment on his personal life. With the 41-year-old not giving a definite answer, the topic of ‘who is dating Swift’ continues to go on in the F1 paddock.

F1 commentators joined the Taylor Swift bandwagon as well

After Fernando Alonso teased his fans with several Taylor Swift references, it was not just the fans that were making all these connections, as Sky Sports F1 commentators also joined in. David Croft hilariously used Swift’s references to describe the Spaniard’s performance during qualifying at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend.

Croft stated that Alonso had a ‘Swift‘ drive and that ‘he went 4th fastest as if he was driving a getaway car’. Croft was referring to Swift’s 2017 number which bears the same name.

That was far from the end of Swift’s references as Croft then also went on to joke that the traffic in qualifying would cause some ‘Bad Blood‘ for Alonso. As a result, the Spaniard will be ‘Looking for that blank space‘. Considering how everyone seems to have joined the Taylor Swift bandwagon, it will be interesting to see what’s next.
