Max Verstappen has recently put Sergio Perez in the high honor of being his teammate, away from F1. Verstappen and Perez can’t quite be called the best of teammates, but that doesn’t mean the defending champion will not put the Mexican in high honor.
From last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix to this year’s aftermath of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the relationship between the duo has been explicitly open off late.
None of the races showed a good example of their partnership, as Verstappen denied letting Checo through due to a grudge from 2022 Monaco, or the Dutchman was unhappy about the P2 finish in Jeddah.
Furthermore, the Red Bull pair is now the championship protagonist. All in all, there is definitely a hint of the civil war in the camp. But that didn’t stop the 25-year-old to share who his teammate was in FIFA!
Verstappen picked Perez as his teammate at FIFA
Ahead of the much anticipated Monaco Grand Prix this year, popular content creator Daniel Mac released a video on interviewing Verstappen. Even though it was released during the Monte Carlo race weekend, the video is believed to be from Miami 2023.

In the video, Mac asked the defending champion to reveal who’s better at FIFA, him or his teammate Checo. The Dutchman, avoiding the direct question, revealed that he would want to be teammates with the Mexican.
“We’ll probably be a very good team if we have to play against others. I think we’re both alright,” said the driver who was once regarded as one of the best FIFA players in the world.
Verstappen and his FIFA history
Apart from being one of the finest drivers alive, Max Verstappen is one of the best FIFA players alive. As per recent reports, the 25-year-old was the 21st best player in the world according to FIFA Ultimate Team game mode in 2019.
The Dutch pilot, who goes by the name “crgboy007”, opens FIFA packs before qualifying, his former Red Bull teammate Alex Albon once revealed, and this shows the fascination he has for the soccer game by Electronic Arts.
Furthermore, Verstappen also revealed that he has been waiting to play FIFA with Checo after he was announced to be his teammate at the end of 2020the F1 season.
In a report published by Racingnews365, the 25-year-old said, “I’ve seen Checo (Perez) around now for quite a few years since I’ve been involved in Formula One and he is a pretty good FIFA player as well, so we have a competition.”
