“Even If It Kills Me”: Rebellious Lewis Hamilton Willing to Die For What’s Right Against Battle With the FIA
Lewis Hamilton is a fearless man both on and off the track. He spearheaded the movement to promote equality and justice with his platform. His unwavering support for the Black Lives Matter movement has been exemplary. In addition to his tireless efforts, he also demonstrated solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community during the 2021 season with his iconic rainbow helmet in Qatar.
In a country where such rights are restricted, Hamilton showed courage and wasn’t afraid to speak out. And he still isn’t. With the FIA trying to muzzle the drivers from making political statements, Hamilton is unmoved. Looking back at the trademark helmet evoked strong emotions from the F1 champ, enough to elicit a daring declaration regarding his actions.
Lewis Hamilton dares to say what’s right
Lewis Hamilton seized the opportunity to emphasize that despite the limitations imposed by F1, he remains committed to utilizing his platform. Regarding the human rights issues within the Middle East, even two years later, he continues to fight for change.
“It is mind-blowing that we live in a time still where there are so many countries around the world but particularly there are a lot of human rights issues in the Middle East.”

In a video that now tallies 146,000 views on a platform with 1.11 million subscribers, Hamilton makes a vow. “I have always been a risk taker. I am going to do this whether or not they throw me in jail, I don’t care what they are going to do, I am going to stand for something I believe in even if it kills me.”
A resounding “I don’t care” from the champion, Hamilton has made his stance clear. Passionate, he explains why this is so important to him, enough to even have his life on the line.

It’s almost as simple as: “I need to do this to show people how important it is and spark those conversations out there, put those in power on edge and feel like they need to have conversations about making change because it brings negativity to their country.”
A man on a mission, the Knight explained how a simple helmet can do the job. Motivating him to put those colors on the top step of the podium, Hamilton chased the “biggest bang” such a defiant move created. And it did. Hamilton’s victory and his helmet had been the talk of the weekend, and he made his message loud and clear.
