F1 Fans Spot ‘El Plan’ by Fernando Alonso Turning Into Bane for Teammate Lance Stroll

Fernando Alonso unintentionally enacted ‘El Plan’ as he gave Lance Stroll advice and it turned out horribly for the latter. Fans could not help but point out the coincidence and slammed the internet with multiple berserk reactions.

On Lap 19 of the Azerbaijan GP, Alonso tried mentoring his young teammate while racing to help him defend against Lewis Hamilton. Alonso said on the team radio, “Tell Lance my brake balance suggestion, as I am now, I think it’s a good help.” But as soon as he delivered the suggestion on the team radio, Stroll made a mistake and lost the battle to Hamilton.

Stroll went wide while defending himself against Hamilton and the Mercedes saw the opportunity to pounce and take the lead. Later on lap 21, Stroll was put under pressure by George Russell but the latter could not overtake him.

Fans divided over Fernando Alonso – Lance Stroll bromance

While some fans have pointed out how Alonso’s clever advice became a bane for Stroll, other fans could not help but droll over the bromance of the Aston Martin line-up. Meanwhile, Formula 1 journalist, Sean Kelly gave a little more insight into the incident revealing a few reasons why Alonso gave Stroll setup suggestions.

Another fan pointed drew parallels between the incident with a meme and revealed how Stroll made the huge mistake.

Furthermore, another fan pointed out team camaraderie and the bromance between the duo.

Alonso is aiming for the podium

Despite having DRS issues in the Aston Martin, Alonso has delivered a wonderful performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Having made his way up to P4 behind Charles Leclerc in P3, the Spaniard is hoping to pass the Ferrari and grab yet another podium in the 2023 season.

From lap 31, Alonso has been putting quite a pressure on the Monegasque driver but has not been able to overtake him yet. The 2-time world champion is about 3 seconds behind Ferrari racing into lap 48 of the Azerbaijan GP.
