F1 Struggling To Sell Tickets for Imola GP Despite $163 Discount

Formula 1 has been struggling to sell its tickets despite offering a decent discount. As per sources, there are still tickets available for the Imola GP, along with Monaco, and Barcelona races.

According to Stefanie on Twitter, there are tickets available for multiple days for the 2023 triple header. With Imola having all three days’ tickets, Monaco having only Sunday and Barcelona having all three again.

The post shows that the Imola GP ticket starts from €129 [$140], Monaco €155 [$168], and Barcelona €99 [$107]. This has come as a shock to experts as well as fans that despite offering a decent amount of discount, the Grand Prix is still not sold out.

If the Grand Prix isn’t sold out before the race, this is going to be a big issue for the organizers and Liberty Media alike. Seeing the much-talked-about triple header slumping to a loss will not be a good visual from the business perspective.

Discount and reduced ticket sale

On the first week of May, an F1 fan posted on Twitter that F1 mailed him saying Imola tickets are €150 [$163] off. Taking that into consideration and having the GP still not sold out, this is a serious wake-up call for the management.

Furthermore, the official website of F1 shows there are still some tickets available for the fans to grab. Tickets range from $500 to $3500, most tickets are still up for grabs. [All tickets are in €]

It’s important to note that Imola and Monaco are those tracks where the capacity is very less as compared to other tracks. The Imola has a 78,000 capacity, whereas Monaco has just 40,000. Hence, having these tracks not sold out rings an alarm bell for sure.

What could be the possible reason behind the reduced sale?

The first and foremost reason is believed to be the ‘boring’ issue which the fans have been vocal about for a long time now. With Red Bull literally sweeping every race, fans might not find it interesting to arrive on the track to see Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez repeating the same.

With no strong opposition from Ferrari, Mercedes, or Aston Martin, there is no spark that may convince the supporters to spend their money and arrive at the circuit. Furthermore, the inclement weather also played a big part. As per the latest development, the Emilia Romagna region is on high alert after torrential rain.

Last but not least, fans have complained about the connectivity to the track, poor facilities of the circuit, and lack of required refreshments to cater to the high crowd at the event.
