F1 Fantasy Tips: The Sportsrush takes a look at the Fantasy Team prospects for the Official Formula 1 Fantasy game for the Styrian Grand Prix.

The second race of the 2020 season kicks off this weekend, with the practise session today.. For those unaware, the Official Fantasy Game is live and running on the Official F1 Fantasy website.

To help you make the initial round of teams, we at The Sportsrush have done a simulation and created a team of our own. This is completely based on our rationale, focusing on quality, and balance.

The team comprises of 5 drivers, and a preferred Constructor, made within a budget of $100m. So, let’s dive in to see who makes our fantasy grid.

Lewis Hamilton – Mercedes – $31.3m

It would be criminal to not have him the team. Not only is he a 6-time F1 world champion, he is also the favorite to win it this year.  Add to that his intention to level Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 world titles. Yes, he is slightly on the expensive side at $31.3m, but should prove to be worth every penny. He finished 4th last weekend, after he lost two places due to a 5-second grid penalty, but expect him to do better this weekend.

Max Verstappen – Red Bull – $26.1m

Max Verstappen had a disappointing start to the season last weekend, with a DNF classification that has left him bottom of the Driver’s Championship. But, except Max to come back in full force, and give tough competition to the Mercedes in a track where he has already won twice in a short F1 career. With Red Bull also looking to overcome their disappointment and put in a strong showing, Max could be the one to watch out for this weekend.

Sergio Perez – Racing Point – $9.3m

The Mexican has been a mainstay in F1 for some years now, and is a very dependable performer. He started racing in F1 from 2011, racing for teams like Sauber, Mclaren and Force India. Force India has since been re-branded to Racing Point, and will do so again to Aston Martin next season, but Perez looks here to stay. He performed decently well in Austria last weekend, and should amongst the points again.

Pierre Gasly – Alpha Tauri – $10.4m

The French driver is very underrated, and will be looking to prove how he is. He finished 7th last season racing for Toro Rosso and Red Bull. He has made it to the Top 10 in the last practice session here in Austria, and in the main race. At this price, he could be a great differential for your fantasy teams.

Lando Norris – McLaren – $11.5m

Lando Norris is a F1 world champion in the making, and could show the F1 world what he is all about this season. The 20-year-old was impressive in his debut season last year, finishing just out of the Top 10 at 11th. He got the podium of his career in Austria last weekend, and it seems only too obvious that the maverick gamer is in your fantasy teams for a long time to come.

Constructors – Racing Point  – $10.1m

Dubbed the ‘Pink Mercedes’ they are putting in performances that will make their engine makers proud, and wary. Both Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll look in fine nick, the latter unfortunate to not complete the race last weekend. Expect Racing Point to be the wildcard team of the weekend, like how McLaren was last weekend, with both their driver finishing in the Top 10. At just $10.1m, Racing Point is an absolute steal.
