During the course of his long F1 career, Fernando Alonso had numerous opponents who had ultimate qualities. However, the Spanish driver has particularly picked one driver from whom he wants to “steal” one crucial quality and he is none other than Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate, as per a video partnered by Peroni.
Alonso, in his two-decade-long F1 journey, raced with the likes of Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Felipe Massa who are regarded as the sport’s veterans. Furthermore, he also raced with young talents such as Esteban Ocon, and Lance Stroll.
The 2010 season had the most championship leaders in a single season. Alonso (x2), Webber (x3), Hamilton (x2), Massa, Button and Vettel.

While racing with them, the Asturian gained ample experiences that helped him enhance his race craft on the track such as the entry speed into the corner. But there’s one quality that he envies in the 2009 F1 world champion which he wants to have from him as he is still on the hunt for championships.
Alonso revealed the quality he wants to “steal” from Button
Speaking about the driver he wants to steal the quality, Alonso said that the driver was his former teammate Jenson Button. Button and Alonso raced together for McLaren for two years in 2015 and 2016.
During a recent Aston Martin and Peroni partnered video where both Alonso and Pedro De La Rosa appeared, the Asturian was asked about one quality he wants to have from active or retired F1 drivers.

Answering this, the 42-year-old said, “I will take from Button, from Jenson the way of reading these weather conditions and how the track evolves. You know, in damp conditions.” Admittedly, the former Brawn GP champion was indeed one of the best drivers in rainy conditions.
Button’s excellence in wet weather conditions
Jenson Button has been a driver with brilliant race craft. Despite being the teammates of the drivers like Hamilton and Alonso, he had the capability to get the better of both of them and on multiple occasions he did it.
The 2011 Canadian GP was one occasion where the British former driver showed his class in rainy conditions. Even though he started from further behind, Button fended off the challenges from Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, and Mark Webber to win the race in the end.
Apart from this, the former McLaren star also showcased his incredible car control under tricky conditions during the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix and 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix where he picked up his first and only F1 world championship.
All in all, during the two years of stay at McLaren, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button gave the fans numerous moments to cherish, as they went wheel-to-wheel, and no wonder why the Asturian now wants Button’s special ability.
