Former British driver Johnny Herbert has recently revealed Max Verstappen’s formula for success. The Dutchman has been enormously successful in the last few seasons, and Herbert knows exactly why.
Talking to GiveMeSport, the former racing driver shared that the Dutchman’s consistency is the key to his success. Admittedly, the Hasselt-born has been pretty consistent with his high-level performance for quite some time now.
Back where we want to be☝️
Today completes a really good weekend for us @redbullracing @HondaRacingGLB 💪 Very happy with that 🙌
Thank you Australia for your great support all weekend 👏 pic.twitter.com/X9j8Tom5zv

Herbert also said that the two-time world champion doesn’t make mistakes. Making mistakes can be very lethal in Formula 1 and can sometimes snatch away the championship from a driver.
If we take the example of Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, the Red Bull driver has rarely made a mistake on track. Even if he did, he recovered from it brilliantly. Whereas the Ferrari driver’s mistake in French Grand Prix last year was monumental.
From the verge of winning the race, he went on to have DNFs when he lost control of his car and hit the crash barrier. This is one of the significant reasons the Dutch pilot has enjoyed draconian success over the last few years.
The Red Bull champion recently threatened to quit
The Red Bull star revealed that he is ready to quit the sport. Someone who’s not a big fan of the sprint has opened up on the recent changes F1 has decided to bring in Azerbaijan.
Verstappen said that he’s not really a fan of it. Even though some points are available, it’s still a colossal risk, given that most of the points are available in the main race.

FIA and F1 agreed with all the teams to bring a new change to the race weekend. In Baku, F1 will have sprint qualification ahead of the sprint race, which isn’t what the Dutch champion isn’t a fan of.
Verstappen is a firm favorite for the 2023 F1 championship
With three races down, Max Verstappen is still to have a driver who can challenge him for the F1 title. Except for his teammate Sergio Perez, there isn’t any driver who’s capable of matching the Dutchman with his mighty RB-19.
After three rounds, the 25-year-old leads the championship standings with 69 points. Followed by his teammate Perez with 54 and three-time podium holder Fernando Alonso with 45.
Furthermore, the challengers of Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari are no still match for Adrian Newey and his team. It’ll be interesting to see if the two-time world champion can defend his title without any major challenges like last year.
