Toto Wolff promised Lewis Hamilton to help him get the coveted eighth world title. The Mercedes boss revealed that he would go to any extent to help the star driver reach the ultimate level despite woeful times.
As per a video on Instagram, Wolff was heard talking about the eighth championship. In the video, F1 commentator Ted Kravitz states to the team principal, who was standing next to the Mercedes garage, “You’re at garage number eight here, Lewis is still searching for number eight title.”

Replying to Kravitz, Wolff said, “We’re gonna get his eight.” The Austrian executive then compared his age with Fernando Alonso to calculate the number of years Hamilton is expected to stay in the sport.
Following this, the 51-year-old added, “If I need to push him around the track to win the eighth, I’m gonna do everything that’s needed.” Wolff and his team helped the British driver win six of his seven titles at Mercedes.
Can Hamilton push for his eighth world title anytime soon?
After losing out his eighth world championship by just a few seconds to Max Verstappen back in 2021, Lewis Hamilton couldn’t make a comeback to the title race anymore.
As the regulations have changed following that year, Mercedes and Hamilton are nowhere where they used to be in the post-Hybrid era. With Red Bull and Max Verstappen coming up as the dominant team, there is hardly any chance of seeing the 38-year-old as the championship protagonist anytime soon.

Leaving aside the Austrian team that has been mighty in 2022 and 2023, there are also threats for the British driver from Ferrari and Aston Martin. With so many oppositions and threats present now and in the next few years, it’s unlikely that Lewis Hamilton might be able to win his much coveted eighth world championship.
Wolff calls Mercedes’s situation “unacceptable”
Despite so many talks off the track, the Silver Arrows failed to live up to the expectations yet again. They were no match for the Red Bulls for the fifth race in a row.
As the situation didn’t look to improve after the fifth race of the season, Wolff called the situation “unacceptable.” Speaking to the media after the Miami GP race, the 51-year-old said, “It’s worse than I ever thought it would be.”
The Mercedes boss then went on to say that the only difference they have this year is no porpoising. Wolff, who doesn’t understand why the W14 is not fast enough, added, “Our car is P1 or P2 in a few practice sessions and then P6 and P13 in qualifying. That’s just unacceptable.”
