“Happiness”: Lewis Hamilton Touched by Story of Dallas Cowboys Scout Who Drafted Son Into NFL Team

The story of Dallas Cowboys’ scout Chris and his son Deuce has been making rounds on the internet. The sentimental story of the father-son duo has also moved F1 driver Lewis Hamilton.

The Briton shared a video of the Cowboy’s scout calling his son to confirm his draft pick. The 7x world champion shared his story with a one-word caption signifying the father’s emotions during the call; happiness.

Hamilton too shares a deep bond with his father. His father, Anthony Hamilton worked 4 jobs to allow his son to pursue his karting career. Had it not been for his sacrifices, the Mercedes driver would have never positioned himself as the GOAT.

What is the story of Chris and Deuce Vaughn?

The video shared by Lewis Hamilton is the story of Dallas Cowboys’s new running back Deuce Vaughn. The former Kansas State running back was the Cowboy’s sixth-round pick for 2023.  He is also the son of Chris Vaughn, the team’s assistant director of college scouting.

They had been secretive about considering Kansas running back and had never discussed Duece’s selection with his father. When Dallas confirmed the youngster, they invited his father to call his son and break the news.

Chris could not hold onto his tears as he asked his son, “You want to come and work with me next week?” His son replied, “I wouldn’t mind it at all,” as the entire draft room started cheering for the duo.

Team owner Jerry Jones got on with the 21-year-old welcoming him to play at the AT&T Stadium. He told him, “You have earned every right of me being able to make this call,” as he welcomed him into the team.

Lewis Hamilton talks about his relationship with his father

Lewis Hamilton had financial struggles growing up, which could have stopped him from karting. However, his father Anthony Hamilton managed to work multiple jobs and kept his karting career afloat until McLaren signed him at the age of 10.

The Briton rose through the ranks, and in 2007, he earned his F1 debut. In his initial years, his father also acted as his manager. Soon, differences developed between them, and Hamilton decided to oust his father from the role of his manager.

However, in recent years, the Mercedes driver has improved his relationship with his father. He claims his father is the first person he talks to after a race. The 7x world champion claims his dad helped him gather motivation and positivity after difficult phases in his career.
