“He basically saved the team" - Sebastian Vettel credits Lawrence Stroll for saving Aston Martin

“He basically saved the team” – Sebastian Vettel has hailed Lawrence Stroll’s role in saving Aston Martin, after the financial troubles with the promising Force India outfit.

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has seen the highs and the lows in the sport. After winning titles with Red Bull and then massively struggling with Ferrari, Vettel now plies his trade for Aston Martin.

Aston Martin is basically the successor to Force India and Racing Point, the re-branding done this season by the executive chairman Lawrence Stroll. He bought out Force India from its financial troubles and then rebranded it to Racing Point.

Force India and Racing Point were very impressive despite their limited budgets, giving strong competition to the likes of McLaren and Renault. In comparison, Aston Martin has been slow off the blocks, but it is a long-term project, and big things are expected from the team this decade.

Lawrence Stroll – The savior of Aston Martin

Stroll is clearly very passionate about the project, something which Sebastian Vettel is delighted about. He has hailed the businessman’s contribution in bringing the team to its current stable state.

“He basically saved the team – a lot of jobs, a lot of people that are passionate about racing. It’s also quite a transformation, if you saw where the team was a few years ago and what it is now. There’s a lot of commitment, a lot of people joining.

“It’s a big project – probably the biggest project in the last couple of years in Formula 1.

“It all looks great at this stage, but it’s the actual getting of results that is most challenging. Lawrence is definitely very determined and the team has a great future.”
