'He doesn't even answer my messages'- Fernando Alonso accuses Cyril Abiteboul of ignoring him ahead of his return to Renault

‘He doesn’t even answer my messages’- Fernando Alonso accuses Cyril Abiteboul of overlooking the veteran driver ahead of his return.

Renault raised eyebrows when they announced the return of Fernando Alonso to Formula 1 in 2021. It was shocking because it was unprecedented and Renault was initially linked with other drivers upon the announcement of Daniel Ricciardo leaving the team for McLaren.

However, with the 2020 calendar yet to be over, Alonso’s presence is allegedly already overwhelming the team principal Cyril Abiteboul, with the Spaniard’s minute details propelling him to ignore the texts sent by Alonso.

“Right now I have sent him three messages … half an hour or so ago. I know he has read them, but he still has not responded to me,” Alonso explained about his conversations with Abiteboul.

“I’m sure he’s starting to get tired of me because he doesn’t even answer my messages”, the Asturian told the French magazine Auto Hebdo.

On the other hand, the report further states that Esteban Ocon has further confirmed Alonso’s presence in discussing the future course of the team ever since he was announced.

“I’ve always been that way”- Fernando Alonso talks about his enthusiasm

The former World Champion further asserted that he has always been excited about the new projects in his Formula 1 career by citing his experiences with the past teams.

“People seem to be very surprised every time they hear about me in these respects, but I’ve always been that way. At McLaren, everyone was surprised at how excited I was about Honda, and they thought I was happier than at Ferrari, although they also noticed my enthusiasm in Ferrari “, Alonso added.

“I have always been like this, but many people do not realize it until they work with me. I have always wanted to return to Formula 1,” he concluded.
