“Hopefully it doesn’t take too long” – Sergio Perez hoping to avoid Racing Point mistake and quickly sign Red Bull contract
“Hopefully it doesn’t take too long” – Sergio Perez is expecting to sign an extension to his Red Bull contract after the double-header in Austria.
It seems inevitable that Sergio Perez will be racing for Red Bull next season too, given the impressive start he has made with them this season. When asked if and when he expects to put pen to paper, he stressed the need to focus on the double races in the Red Bull Ring first.
“I think right now we are so busy with the races, three in a row. There will be some downtime where we can speak about it and hopefully, it doesn’t take too long. I don’t have a good experience when you take that long.
“I see it as a natural thing when you are comfortable in the team, working with them and the team working with you, it is something that should happen very smoothly and we should just take it out of the season and focus on the right stuff.”

Max Verstappen wants to continue with Sergio Perez
Verstappen and Perez are forming an enviable partnership, given the lack of chemistry between their Mercedes rivals. And it is no surprise that Verstappen wants status quo with regards to the seats next season.
“I mean everything is going really well. I knew Checo before but not as a team-mate so it is always a little bit different. So far, it has been great and to be able to work together upfront to get the best results for the team is what you want.
“For sure, I would want that to continue. He is a great team-mate. We can have a lot of fun, we don’t always talk about cars and set-up and stuff.”
