“I am very pleased to be joining Scuderia Ferrari”- Callum Ilott joins Ferrari team for 2021
“I am very pleased to be joining Scuderia Ferrari”- Callum Ilott confirms his spot in Ferrari as a test driver for the 2021 season.
Callum Ilott recently announced that he would not be participating in F2 anymore, as the cost involved in it would be hard for him to afford while he already came 2nd in this edition.
While, Mick Schumacher, who won this year’s F2 championship and Nikita Mazepin are going to be debuting for Haas in 2021, whereas Yuki Tsunoda is expected to join Alpha Tauri.
Yet, Ilott, who was only defeated by Schumacher in the order was denied any opportunity in F1, despite three entries making a promotion to Formula 1.
But in the latest update, it has been reported and now confirmed by Ilott himself, he is going to join Ferrari for 2021. Obviously, a reserve driver, with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc to lead the Ferrari contention.
“I am very pleased to be joining Scuderia Ferrari as its test driver from next year,” wrote Ilott on Twitter. “I would like to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy and Scuderia Ferrari for this great opportunity and their support. It has been an honour to be part of their programme for the past three years.

Still better than an absolute absence
Ilott clearly lacks some privileges in his life, which currently is not helping him to boost his career, but on the brighter side, Ferrari believes in his talent and views him a vital part of Ferrari’s future.
Moreover, a sudden rush in F1 can be backfired, rather a spot as a reserve driver can further open his chances and might help him grabbing a spot while the opportunity occurs.
In the end, F1 is a sport with limited opportunities, and one has to adjust with the status quo until things transform for better.
