“I feel ready for Formula 1"- Nikita Mazepin on his debut season with Haas in Formula 1

“I feel ready for Formula 1″- Nikita Mazepin on Haas giving him debut in Formula 1 in 2021, he says faster cars suit him more.

Haas earlier on Tuesday declared that Nikita Mazepin would be driving for Haas in Formula 1 from 2021. The F2 driver with his current standing in the championship makes him eligible for a super license.

Thus, Haas has preferred to go for him to fill their one of the two currently vacant seats because of the outgoing Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen

Upon being announced as the new Haas driver, Mazepin claimed that he is excited to race in Formula 1 and the faster cars suit him, which makes him suitable for F1.

“I feel ready for Formula 1,” he said. “I had quite a few seasons in single-seaters now and I believe that faster cars do suit my driving style. It’s been quite a challenging year,” said Mazepin.

“When I went to race with Hitech Grand Prix, they haven’t existed in Formula 2 previously. Although it’s only 12 people everybody needed to blend in with each other and it was a big task.”

“But I think the team’s handled it fantastically. For us to be able to do reasonably fast pit stops, make [fewer] mistakes than some teams do with starting set-ups, et cetera, I think it’s an achievement that’s worth noticing.”

“Especially given a few penalties I’ve had this year that I perhaps haven’t agreed with. I think the overall championship table is looking promising.”

A teammate will be announced soon

Haas has reportedly revealed that Mazepin’s teammate at Haas for 2021 will be declared by the end of the week, with speculations of Mick Schumacher joining the ranks.

“I’m expecting to do well in regards to potential performance in the speed of the car that I’ll be racing at,” he said. “I believe that I and my teammate should be close within the lap times.”

Earlier hesitated about having two rookie drivers in the tea, Haas has now probably succumbed to the economical pressure posing threat to their existence in the sport.
