"I think that was a really great gesture"– Ferrari praises Charles Leclerc presence in podium celebration

“I think that was a really great gesture”– Charles Leclerc earned admiration by being there for his teammate Carlos Sainz during the podium celebration.

Charles Leclerc didn’t have a good time at his home- Monaco, as his car had an issue in the left driveshaft that didn’t allow him to participate in the race, even though he had the pole start.

Despite the major setback, Leclerc came on to participate in his teammate’s success, as he was standing beside the podium while Sainz collected his trophy.

Mattia Binotto touched with this gesture by Leclerc, as the Monegasque could have avoided everyone as he had all the reasons to be distraught, but he chose to stay.

“The car and the team are developing in the right direction,” said Binotto. “It is very positive for Carlos, his first podium with Ferrari, Carlos is doing very well since the start of the season, integrating with the team, getting the confidence with the car, and second place will not be the last one, and we will get more in the future.

“[What is] very positive is Charles being under the podium, I think that was a really great gesture from him, showing he was there to celebrate Carlos but celebrate the team as well.

“It shows the team spirit we’ve got at the moment, we all believe in the project and are all convinced in the future we will become stronger and stronger.”

Ferrari strong to grab their aims

Before the start of the season, Ferrari aimed to be the third-best team on the grid, and after the first couple of races, it was clear that McLaren would be their biggest challenge.

After Sainz P2, they have cleared the deficit to two points, had Lando Norris didn’t win P3, Ferrari would have gone ahead. But with 18 races more to go, Ferrari can work up there.
