"I will press the delete button"- Max Verstappen expresses remoteness with social media

“I will press the delete button”- Max Verstappen appears to be not fond of social media despite him having 20 million followers.

Max Verstappen is among the most talented drivers on the grid, which naturally has attracted a massive wave of followers towards the Dutch superstar.

However, Verstappen feels dejected from the buzz around social media and is no fan of its activities, so he suggests that he might drop out of that space in the possible future.

“Everyone has their own thing,” said the Red Bull driver during an interview with De Telegraaf. “I’m not concerned with the followers. Even though I have over 20 million, what do I care?

“Who knows, once I’m done racing, whether I will press the delete button and not be heard much more.” he further said.

Need to self-censor words online

Verstappen who has been blunt with his words in the recent years, during press conferences and interviews, feel that he can’t do the same on social media posts and often has to censor his words he is posting online.

“I know some things are sensitive in the world,” he added. “The situation is different from roughly five years ago, also on social media. I realise you can’t say anything.

“And I certainly don’t. I say it like it is, but I don’t say everything I think. I have such a moment every day, haha. You either like me or not. I always have that idea a bit.”

“And you don’t have to look at me, do you? If you don’t like me, don’t do it. I think it’s more important what the people around me say to me. I don’t worry about anything anyway.”

Don’t want to reveal much in front of the public eye.

Verstappen who has appeared in a few documentaries before revealing much of his life, Drive to Survive and Whatever it takes, feels that there are several elements of his life that he doesn’t want to bring it publically.

“No, I don’t like that at all,” he added. “I don’t suddenly throw my entire private life out on the street. Here at home in Monaco, there are no paparazzi in the bushes.

“I don’t post a lot of personal stuff on Instagram, either because I don’t think people need to know. I make an exception sometimes,” he added.
