“If they think they can replace Lewis Hamilton, they are deluded”- Eddie Jordan takes U-turn on Briton star
“If they think they can replace Lewis Hamilton, they are deluded”- Eddie Jordan changes his views on Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fiasco.
Eddie Jordan has recently been speaking extensively about Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ contract negotiations. As a former Formula 1 team boss, Jordan had a daring view on the reigning world champion’s situation.
A few days ago he said that if he had been the boss at Mercedes, he would have kicked Hamilton out due to his alleged astronomical demands to continue racing for the Brackley based team in 2021.
Now, Jordan has made a complete u-turn on his words and has claimed that if Mercedes is even thinking about replacing Hamilton, they are deluded.
“Lewis Hamilton is the jewel in the crown,” he told the BBC. “He’s the one every TV station wants to interview. Mercedes are probably saying a lot of this is to do with the car and we’ve given him an outstanding chance to be world champion because he has the best car. That’s not in dispute.
“However, if they think they can replace Lewis Hamilton with another driver and have the same element of success, then I think they are deluded.
“And one thing’s for sure Mercedes, and Toto Wolf will not be easily deluded. He’s a brilliant guy. He knows exactly the value of Lewis Hamilton, and I think they will sit down and come to a good solution because the world of F1 needs Lewis Hamilton in it.”
He claims to have massive inside info.
Last week, Jordan also claimed that Hamilton would be signing a new contract with Mercedes in the following week. However, so far, no confirmation has been made.
Except for an unofficial assurance by Toto Wolff that Hamilton would stay at Mercedes this year. Marking the start of his fight for the 8th world championship title.
