Stroll to have Force India seat fitting on Tuesday
Stroll to have Force India seat fitting on Tuesday reveal RaceFans, with Kubica set for Williams drive at Monza.
Lance Stroll’s imminent move to Force India is all but done, as in the post qualifying conversation between Vettel and Ocon, it was reavealed that Stroll had ‘bought’ the Force India seat.
Vettel: Next year? Still nothing?
Ocon: No.
Vettel: Will you be here [at Force India]? No?
Ocon: No, no. The seat is taken.
Vettel: Oh yeah? Who?
Ocon: Have a guess! The one who bought it!
Vettel: Yes, but the other one…?
Ocon: Well, the other one [Sergio Perez] brings money. [Transcript from Motorsport.com]
Now, according to a report in Racefans, Stroll is set to move to Force India next week, and will be racing for Racing Point Force India at Monza.
Stroll has a seat fitting scheduled at Force India on Tuesday after the Grand Prix at Spa. He will be replacing Esteban Ocon, who is presently out of a seat for 2019, unless something crops up in the next few weeks.
With Stroll leaving Williams, Kubica is set to be on the race track at Monza in that Williams car.
It would be an emotional return for Kubica, who last made an F1 race appearance in 2010 before getting seriously injured in a rally crash in 2011.
He has been knocking on an F1 return ever since the start of this year and with the Force India situation cropping up, his return has been fast tracked.
Kubica’s progress will need to be assessed, because his injuries might cause some strain to him initially. Williams will need to determine if they can make Kubica a long term solution.
