WATCH: Helpless and furious Ricciardo blasts Red Bull, glad he is leaving
Daniel Ricciardo has absolutely ripped Red Bull apart in his post race interview, calling the car out for not being consistent for multiple weekends now.
While Ricciardo did manage to secure pole position by dishing out a supreme lap late in Q3 on Saturday, he couldn’t hold onto that track position into turn 1, as Max overtook him.
Ricciardo had a poor start, something he lamented in his post race interview.
He spoke about how the problems have been growing in number and he is helpless to say the least with what has transpired.
Towards the end of the interview, a salty Ricciardo ended up saying that he was happy that he was leaving, as the car had way too many problems and was glad that Gasly and not him would have to deal with it next year.
“Helpless I think is the best word. The car…I let Gasly drive it, I am done with them” Ricciardo said.
It is really shameful that Red Bull and Ricciardo have to part ways on such bad terms, as they have shared a brilliant partnership until now, with Ricciardo dishing out some brilliant wins for them.
But you can’t really blame Ricciardo for his statements, as that car has been miserable this year. Ricciardo has retired 8 times this year, the most in F1 this season for a single driver.
The car’s reliability has been miserable and while Red Bull have been putting the blame on Renault for sometime now, it seems like Ricciardo feels that the issue is with the car itself.
Ricciardo would be hoping to get these two final races out of the way as quickly as possible so that he can start the 2019 season afresh.
