"I'm grateful Tom Brady even knows me" - Lewis Hamilton amazed that the NFL legend even recognizes him

Lewis Hamilton and Tom Brady both have 7-titles to their name in their respective sports. Being the best ones in their sports have led the duo to become close friends.

But only a few years ago, Hamilton was amazed by the fact that Brady even recognizes him.

In an interview with ESPN in 2019, Hamilton said that he grew up watching these athletes and getting inspired by them and therefore being labelled as a ‘super talent’ by Brady is a surreal feeling.

“I’m very grateful for the fact that he even knows my name, it’s so cool, man,” he further added.

On top of that, he said that to be able to find that common ground with the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Tom Brady; to be able to relate to the struggles each has been through, there’s a huge learning curve.

Tom Brady thinks Lewis Hamilton is an artist

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Brady shower even more praise on the 7-time F1 world champion. He called him an artist and explained that the Briton sees the track differently than the others. “He probably sees lines on the track, no one else can see.”

Furthermore, Brady lauded Hamilton’s dominance in the last decade by saying that anyone can have 5 great seasons in the sport. But it gets challenging to have 10 or 15 great seasons in a row.

That kind of dominance requires different traits and qualities.

Toto Wolff thinks Hamilton can emulate Brady in terms of age

With his current contract expiring at the end of the 2023 season, Hamilton and Mercedes are eager to sign a new deal for the Briton’s future in the sport.

Being the second oldest driver in the sport, although, has brought Hamilton and his boss Toto Wolff a lot of questions about the driver’s retirement plans.

Wolff believes that Hamilton still has a lot of potential in him and can continue racing in his 40s like Alonso is doing as of now.

The Mercedes team boss even compared his star driver with Brady saying that today athletes have pushed the boundaries by competing at the top level in their sport. For example, Brady is 45 and is still a top-level athlete in NFL and therefore the same can be achieved by Hamilton.
