"Is This a Mistake?": Oscar Piastri Gets Kicked Aside As Fans Riot For Change in 'Criminal' F1 23 Rankings

Formula 1 fans have been left furious after the F1 2023 game released the ratings of the drivers. Fans were most annoyed with the rating that McLaren’s Oscar Piastri received. The Australian driver’s supporters believe that F1 has done an injustice towards him.

Fans were most unhappy as Piastri’s score of 73 in racecraft was lower than that of both AlphaTauri’s Nyck de Vries and Williams’ Logan Sargeant. F1 considers racecraft to be the ability of a driver to gain as many positions as possible during a race from their respective grid position.

When it came to the drivers’ ratings for each other, Piastri gave Sargeant a 70 for Racecraft. Meanwhile, de Vries gave Piastri a 73 and Sargeant gave the Dutchman a 72.

When the drivers unveiled the actual assessments given by the F1 2023 game, Piastri ended up getting a 73 for Racecraft. However, both Sargeant and de Vries received a much higher score of 84 despite having expected their score to be lower than that of the Australian.

On seeing their scores, Piastri said it is “rough,” with de Vries agreeing to the Australian. Meanwhile, Sargeant could not believe that his racecraft score was above 80.

EA doesn’t watch F1“: Fans give their take on Piastri’s rating

Some F1 fans such as Bert seemed to mock F1 2023’s ratings as they could not understand how Oscar Piastri has a lower racecraft rating than both Nyck de Vries and Logan Sargeant.

On similar lines, some other fans stated that Piastri having a lower racecraft rating than de Vries and Sargeant is “just criminal“.

And then there were some other fans such as Luke who stated that while they love both de Vries and Sargeant, they cannot believe that their racecraft rating is higher than that of Piastri. As a result, they questioned, “Is this a mistake“?

How have Oscar Piastri, Nyck de Vries and Logan Sargeant performed this year?

Even though all three rookie drivers have struggled this year, both Nyck de Vries and Logan Sargeant seem to have struggled more than Oscar Piastri. The Australian has already scored five points this season thanks to a good home race and a tenth-place finish in Monaco.

On the other hand, both de Vries and Sargeant have failed to score any points this season. While both de Vries and Sargeant also find themselves in teams that have had a poor start to the season, it is important to note that both their teammates have already scored points.

Sargeant’s teammate, Alex Albon, has one point to his name, while de Vries’ teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, has two points to his name. Despite seemingly having a slightly better season so far than both de Vries and Sargeant, Piastri has still received a much worse racecraft rating than both drivers.
