Fernando Alonso and his history with his teammates are enough to know that he wasn’t an easy partner. Even at the twilight of his career, he still managed to create tensions with his last teammate Esteban Ocon at Alpine.
It’s one of the reasons why Alonso is a person to work hard with. Right from his McLaren days, he had tensions with Lewis Hamilton. Then at Ferrari, he had problems with most of the drivers he worked with.
Though, it’s not like Alonso should be held responsible for all this. The other people around him weren’t saints either. Moreover, his team’s lousy management should also be blamed for his tensions with his teammates.

Felipe Massa holds Fernando Alonso responsible for splitting Ferrari
When Felipe Massa was with Alonso at Ferrari, they hadn’t had the best times. The two even had an intense argument in the cooling room after the 2007 European Grand Prix. Back then, they weren’t teammates but were conspicuously prone to disagreements.
After their stint together is over, Massa talks about his time with Alonso. While he claims that the Spaniard was an excellent driver, he was indeed the toughest teammate to deal with.
“It was quite difficult to work together inside the team, you know,” said Massa. “Actually, the team was split in the middle. And in the end, it was not good for the team’s results and me.”

Massa adds that he didn’t feel strong enough to work with Ferrari after that. But seeing that was hard for him. Though, for him is a big lesson that he learned.
Fernando Alonso to pair with a teammate who can’t be touched
All the teams Alonso has gone to throughout his career have been either below his stature or at least equal to him. So in most cases, he managed to dominate the other guy.
But he will be teaming up next season with a person whose father owns the team. Therefore, it would be tough for him to dominate the next person to form alliances in the team, as, technically, the whole crew is under his dad’s payroll.
So, if things go south with Lance Stroll, Alonso should expect harsh treatment or even the risk of getting axed. Stroll has admitted that he always saw Alonso as one of his idols while growing up. But those don’t remain a point of worship once they are racing against you in the same car.
