"It will be special wearing it again" - Charles Leclerc's French GP helmet is inspired from a Marvel character

“It will be special wearing it again” – Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has gone back to his racing roots and chosen a helmet from his karting days for the ongoing French Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc has multiple home races this season. He has already taken part in the Monaco GP – his hometown and a French principality – and is currently at Marseille for the French GP. And as part of the Ferrari team, he has two Italian races this season – Imola and Monza.

For the ongoing French GP, he’s been feeling nostalgic and has chosen a helmet design from his karting days. And the helmet design itself was inspired by the web of Spider-Man, the popular Marvel character. He will hope this will inspire him to swing his way to the podium on Sunday.

“After 19 years I’m bringing back my first design from when I started karting near here. I remember when I drew the design Spider-Man was on TV and I tried to make it look like his web. I’ve got many great memories from this part of my life, it will be special wearing it again.

“It feels very close to a home race. I started karting only 45 minutes from here so I still remember exactly when I did these first few laps where I fell in love with racing.

“It feels special to be here and there will also be some people in the grandstands which will be great to see so I am looking forward to this weekend.”
