Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg don’t see eye to eye with each other after tensions between them peaked during their time together at Mercedes. However, their personal differences haven’t affected Rosberg’s ability to judge fairly.
Despite the personal rivalry, Rosberg weighs in support of Hamilton over the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 controversy. It happened after Michael Masi appeared in the paddock during the Australian Grand Prix’s day zero, and it recalled his problematic workday from two years ago.
Amidst all of this, Rosberg also had his opinion to share and felt his former teammate was wronged that night. Rosberg commented: “There’s a lot of things that show he didn’t follow the rules.”

Lewis Hamilton fans praise Nico Rosberg for being fair
Truth be told, Hamilton’s fans were a bit surprised to see Rosberg siding with his fiercest rival over this topic. Especially when several F1 experts advise others to move on from that night.
But Rosberg not getting into the narrative of letting bygones be bygones impressed many F1 fans. One Twitter user even commented, “You know it’s bad when Nico is on Lewis’ side of things.”

Gotta give it to Nico if my memory serves me correctly after the initial “wahoo Max won” coverage, I think an hour or so later Nico was the first to mention the rules were applied incorrectly – I think atp they knew Merc may challenge.

Though, another Twitter user made fun of the situation and took it lightly by mentioning that Rosberg is seeking his own benefit in this controversy by advocating for Hamilton. “He’s always wanted Lewis to win his 8th just so he can say he beat the best in equal machinery,” wrote another Twitter user.
No more in the championship fight
The 2023 season hasn’t started well for Hamilton. The W14 produced by his side Mercedes doesn’t seem to reflect the championship-level pace. And going into Australia, Mercedes wouldn’t even be aiming for a podium spot.
Moreover, Hamilton, who is clearly pushing his F1 career ahead, seeing the eighth world title as an objective, doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere close to it this year. Red Bull on track is massively above Mercedes’ pace, and the Silver Arrows has confessed it will take a year to match that.
So, for at least this year, Hamilton is not winning another title. He may have to wait till the 2024 season before genuinely considering himself in another title fight.
