"It's such a special team to so many of us" - Jenson Button confident of Williams revival this decade

“It’s such a special team to so many of us” – Williams senior advisor Jenson Button is confident of the team returning to the top with the backing of Dorilton Capital.

Williams is one of the most successful outfits in the seven-decade-long history of Formula 1. But they’ve dropped to the bottom of the pile in the last three years or so, competing against the backmarkers.

But recent changes within the team point towards a positive outlook for the British team. US-based investment firm Dorilton Capital now owns the team, succeeding the Williams team.

They’ve also brought in former world champion Jenson Button as a senior advisor. He is confident that Williams will get back to winning ways in the coming years, but it will not be a quick-fix process.

“They are a little bit more competitive in qualifying than in the race at the moment but it will come and I think the important thing is that they can see a future and that is what is always key within a team.

“If you can see a bit of light, you do work that extra bit and it’s lovely to see the progress. The atmosphere in the team is good, I think Jost Capito is doing a good job of leading the team.

“But it takes time. It’s not going to happen overnight. They’re not going to be winning races next year but in a few years time, they could be at the front again which is what we all love to see. It’s such a special team to so many of us.”
