"I've been giving it absolutely everything"– Lewis Hamilton affirms Red Bull superiority in Austria

“I’ve been giving it absolutely everything”– Lewis Hamilton feels that Mercedes can’t give more at the Red Bull arena amidst non-pole performance.

In 2020, Mercedes had a perfect record in Austria but this year, they are clearly not the best team to be at the grid, as Max Verstappen takes another pole this year.

On the other hand, Valtteri Bottas slips to P5 courtesy of a three-position grid penalty. Lewi Hamilton secured the first-row start for Sunday, but he believes he can’t give any more effort with his car.

“Well done to Max. They have been so fast this weekend,” said Hamilton in the post-qualifying interview. “I’ve been giving it absolutely everything, not the greatest of second [runs], but nonetheless it’s still on the front row after the penalty. We go into the race tomorrow for a fight.”

Not to forget, Hamilton kind of struggled in his last flying lap, and even failed to beat his teammate to secure the front row start, it’s only the penalty, which has come to his rescue.

Meanwhile, Sergio Perez is also eyeing a podium finish from his second-row start and can overpower Lando Norris’ McLaren at the Red Bull favouring ring.

Red Bull in control

Verstappen seemed to control all the sessions in Austria and is the favourite for the race on Sunday. Meanwhile, his teammate had an uncomfortable start in Q1.

But quickly returned to his best in Q2, and hammered the top spot in his last flying lap of that round. Whereas, Norris has gained praises for his performance, as he secures a starting spot just behind Hamilton.
