Jenson Button won the 2009 championship title with Brawn GP and decided to move to McLaren for the 2010 season taking a seat alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Button’s team principal at the time Ross Brawn however thought that the Briton was making a mistake by moving to the Woking-based team.
Speaking at the High-Performance podcast, Button revealed that people thought it was the craziest move to do so. He had just won the championship with Brawn but they did not offer him a contract, therefore, he turned to McLaren.
Button said that he told the team that he was leaving and Nick Fry, who was one of the bosses with Brawn at the time, just yelled at him.
On the other hand, Brawn just told him frankly, “I think you’re making a big mistake going up alongside Lewis.”

Button reveals how he ‘mentally hurt’ Lewis Hamilton
The most recent world champions racing together at McLaren in 2010 were dubbed as an all-British super team.
Button revealed how he approached Hamilton in a bid to beat the young Briton as a teammate. He said that he doesn’t know about playing mind games but the most important thing to him was getting the whole team behind him in order to win.
Button would jump in the car and if the car is not suited to his driving style he would ask the team to make certain changes. He believes that those things hurt Hamilton mentally.

Button was pissed by constant questions about his teammate
In the 2011 season, Button frequently questioned his opinion on his teammate having rivalries with other drivers on the grid and he was not very amused by that.
After Button had excellently scored P2 at the Indian Grand Prix, he was asked at the press conference to opine on the ongoing spat between his teammate and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.
Button replied, “I don’t give a f**k.” He further explained to the media that if they wanted to interview him about him then that was fine but he did not appreciate being asked about Hamilton.
