Max Verstappen needs to remain in great shape to race in F1. The driver has to keep a check on his weight and train almost every day to keep himself sharp and fit and demolish his competition on Sunday’s race.
The 25-year-old Dutchman has already won 2 world championships. He is on contract with Red Bull until 2028, which means he could surpass Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 titles too.
However, Verstappen claims he won’t be racing for too long. The Dutchman is waiting to hang up his shoes someday and unwind from racing. However, his girlfriend has raised some objections to his retirement plans.
Kelly Piquet won’t allow Max Verstappen from becoming fat
Verstappen revealed his plans after racing in his new documentary, “Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion.” The Dutchman plans on guilt-free binging after retiring from F1.
Once he leaves the sport, the 2x champion no longer wants to follow his strict diet. He told, “When I am forty, then I will no longer race. Then I will eat what I want.”

He continued, “I’m getting as fat as a pudding sandwich.” To which his girlfriend Kelly Piquet objected and warned him with repeated “no.”
The Brazilian model has been dating the Red Bull driver for over two years. Definitely, Piquet wouldn’t be a fan of the Dutchman cutting too much slack.
Verstappen plans to exit F1 soon
Verstappen has often hinted at his interest in leaving the sport. The Red Bull driver has achieved a lot of success in his younger days and wants to reserve his 30s for his family.
The Dutchman has time until 2028 to decide whether to continue with racing or not. However, he claims he wants to do “other stuff” as well and wants to spend time with family, which isn’t possible with F1’s hectic schedule.
Verstappen stated, “F1 is amazing and I’ve achieved a lot. I’m very happy and proud about it but it’s a lot of traveling and it’s a lot of races.”
Max Verstappen has warned that if F1 keeps changing the weekend format, then he will quit sooner rather than later ❌
“I don’t find that is in the DNA of Formula One to do these kinds of sprint races.”

Recently the Dutchman has publically opposed F1’s plans to add more sprint races. He claims to not be a fan of F1’s new changes which are changing the DNA of the sport. If the changes continue, the 2x champion won’t be shy from bidding farewell from the sport.
Verstappen stated, “I’m happy with just the main race. I think that’s way better for the excitement. I hope there won’t be too many changes or else I won’t be around for too long.”
It’s safe to say Verstappen won’t be hanging around the paddock like his colleagues Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. The two former champions are an example that age is just a number. Alonso is 41 at the time of writing and has hinted to stay in F1 for a couple more years. While Lewis who is 38, has denied plans to hang his racing shoes unless he achieves his 8th championship.
