The life of an F1 driver usually screams luxury and grandeur: expensive watch collections, multiple mansions across the globe, and garages filled with supercars. However, Lando Norris wasn’t one to fit the mold until now. With a salary of over $20 million, Norris was often seen roaming the streets of Monaco in a good ol’ $50,000 Fiat Jolly– but no more.
In an interview with BBC, Norris shared an interesting tidbit about the first car he purchased. The charming Fiat Jolly caught the driver’s eyes and he was in love. “But it’s one of the coolest cars you’ll ever get. It’s 15 horsepower, so it’s maybe also the slowest car I think I could possibly ever buy. But I think that’s why I love it so much.”

The Jolly houses a 0.5l 2-cylinder engine generating a modest 15hp paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Reports suggest the vehicle might attain a top speed of 59mph.
Despite its unimpressive performance metrics and its origins as a budget-friendly car, the Fiat Jolly commands a substantial price in the market. Collectors hold it high in esteem, valuing it as a rare gem among classic luxury cars.
Lando Norris gets rid of his Fiat Jolly
Norris must’ve seen this opportunity as the McLaren driver recently revealed he has sold his iconic Jolly without anyone noticing. In a sneak peek of an upcoming Quadrant video, Norris confesses his recent sale to his friend Max Fewtrell.
Even Fewtrell was caught by surprise, as was the rest of the F1 community. Norris blankly stated, “That’s gone. It’s gone.” When asked to explain, Norris stated, “I sold it. Cause I got another one coming.” Fewtrell rightly argued, “It was the original Jolly though. Come on.”

Parting ways with his first car, Norris revealed it was all hush-hush. “Jolly’s gone. Like you’ve heard it here first. I don’t think anyone knows about it.
And so, Norris will now no longer be spotted cruising about the streets of Monaco in his jelly bean-looking car. Perhaps he sold it to his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, who was spotted in the same car.
Norris has moved on
One of the perks of being a McLaren driver would be getting a 765LT Spider from the company. The customized beast was recently added to the family of McLarens in his garage- including a McLaren 570, 720, and McLaren GT.
As the mysterious fifth member of Norris’ garage makes its way home, the sight of the young driver and his beloved Jolly would be a scene missed by many. But as his career only moves upwards, it’s no surprise Norris has moved to bigger and better things.
