Mercedes-Benz introduced the all-new, much-awaited Mercedes-AMG GT during Monterey Car Week 2023, with a reported starting price of $186,500. Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 Champion, surprised everyone by demanding donuts in the car during the launch video, despite it being one of the most awaited cars.

The 38-year-old asked, “Hey can I go and do some donuts?” The Briton let the GT run to its full capacity, creating clouds of smoke as the tires spun and the car performed amazing donuts in the desert.

Lewis Hamilton, who is a seven-time F1 champion, approved of the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT’s sculpted appearance, describing it as “beautiful.” The Mercedes F1 star revealed the details of his involvement in the development of the latest AMG car.

Not only did he see the car evolve from clay model to what it is today, but he also got a sneak peek into the future line-up of AMG models set to launch over the next five years. Of course, he didn’t reveal anything unexpected, but what he saw is undoubtedly one of the benefits of driving for Mercedes in F1.

The British driver also owns a Mercedes-AMG GT from the previous generation. Given Hamilton’s collaboration with Mercedes, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him eventually add Mercedes’s most recent lineup of cars to his collection.

Hamilton gets a sneak peek at Mercedes’ future

As a long-time Mercedes in-standing partner, Hamilton got to see their cars evolve first-hand. The British driver revealed that he was one of the first people to set his sights on the first Mercedes underground cars.

Additionally, he said that Mercedes and Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagner shared insights of the cars the company plans to release in the next couple of years.

Hamilton gave the Mercedes GT high marks, stating that the German company has cutting-edge technology. He emphasized on the impressive performance of the engines, which he described as truly spectacular. In addition to that, he also stressed the Mercedes GT’s great bottom end and superb balance.
