Lewis Hamilton recently opened up on the training he performs before a Grand Prix weekend. The Briton’s remarks came just before taking part in his second Miami GP last week. Speaking of the training he does before a Grand Prix weekend, the 38-year-old told ESPN in an interview (as quoted by silverarrows.net),
“Today I was running at 6.30 am this morning. A 10k run, then I got back and had a summit. Then it was all core strength, glutes and hip flexors all that kind of working around the middle area. It really depends on what you have got coming up”.
After giving a glimpse of his typical workout before a Grand Prix weekend, he did admit that a leg day is not something he would do before a race. This is because he believes then he would have ‘noodle legs’ before he gets into the car, and hence, it will be difficult for him to put on a good performance.
Lewis Hamilton had a frustrating Miami Grand Prix weekend
Lewis Hamilton had a disappointing weekend in Miami last week, primarily because of a disastrous qualifying session. After just making it to Q2, the Briton failed to progress to the final qualifying session and only managed to qualify P13 on the grid.
Despite his poor starting position, Hamilton was able to recover a huge amount of lost ground as he managed to cross the finishing line in sixth place. The 38-year-old crucially managed to finish ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and just behind the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.

Hamilton has a mediocre start to the 2023 season
After dominating the turbo hybrid era (2014-21) by winning six of his seven world titles with Mercedes, it is fair to say that fourth in the championship is not where Lewis Hamilton would want to be. The Briton finds himself in this position after one second-placed finish, two fifth and two sixth-place finishes after the first five races of the season.
Consequently of these results, he has scored 56 points. While he is just 19 points behind third-placed Fernando Alonso, he is way behind the two Red Bulls of championship leader Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez.
Hamilton’s gap to Perez is 49 points, while the gap to Verstappen is a whopping 63 points. Considering that Hamilton has had a below-par start to the season, he will have it all to do in the races ahead if he wants to finish as high as possible in the championship.
