Lewis Hamilton Says He Is Not to Be Blamed That F1 Is Not ‘Entertaining’ as NBA and NFL

Lewis Hamilton has recently conveyed that he will not be blamed for why F1 is not as entertaining as the NBA or NFL. The Mercedes star made this remark after recent allegations, which call the sport ‘boring,’ found more traction after the recently concluded Miami Grand Prix.

As per a report published by Racingnews365, Hamilton opened up on this when he was asked about his answer to people about the nature of the sport and if they’re willing to watch it. He said that it was not his job to convince people to watch Formula 1.

However, he agrees that there’s no hardcore excitement or competition in F1 right now due to Red Bull’s unreal dominance. This cannot be seen in the NFL or the NBA. But for that, the Silver Arrows ace can’t be blamed.

Furthermore, the seven-time world champion said that he’s not watching the sport, but it’s never boring for him. This is because he feels challenged every day to try to get back to the front of the grid. So, from Lewis Hamilton‘s perspective, F1 is never boring.

Hamilton reckons they need to do better

Amid the allegations of boring F1, the British driver, who recently turned to simpler times amid personal turmoil, said that the sport needs to do better. Despite repeated tries to bring the sport closer, things have failed so far.

The 38-year-old then said, “All I can say is we’re working as hard we can to close up and get back to [giving the fans] some more excitement.” Admittedly, the FIA, in collaboration with F1, has introduced cost cap regulations in 2021.

This was done to bring a level playing field among all the teams where they will be allowed to spend the same amount throughout the season. However, with Red Bull’s dominating display, things don’t look like it has any effect on the teams.

Why is F1 being called boring?

As the recently concluded Miami Grand Prix showed yet another Red Bull dominance for fans, this season has been nothing but boring. The Milton-Keynes-based team picked up five wins out of five races, and interestingly, their fourth 1-2 finish, with no teams being able to match them.

From the fans’ perspective, it’s all about Red Bull’s win in the end. Whereas Aston Martin, Mercedes, and Ferrari are eyeing the P2 spot. McLaren, Haas, and Alpine are fighting for the midfield. And lastly, Alfa Romeo, Williams, and AlphaTauri are scraping for the points at the back.

Furthermore, things have been the same in the last decade as well. Apart from Ferrari’s feeble attacks against Red Bull and Mercedes, the 2010s were all about the Austrian and German teams’ one-sided dominance.
