Lewis Hamilton is arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time, and even at the age of 38, he shows no signs of slowing down. To cope with the demanding nature of this brutal sport, Hamilton has to be at the top of his game, both physically and mentally. In terms of the latter, it is no secret that he has the mentality of a champion and always refuses to give up.
However, Hamilton provided his fans with an insight into his diet, that most people wouldn’t be able to follow for very long! The video clip of his interview on his diet was posted on YouTube by Mastery Blueprint.
Maintaining weight is extremely crucial for F1 drivers, as being overweight can slow a car down. As a result, Hamilton, like all other drivers, avoids the intake of carbs at all costs. The seven-time world champion does not eat everyday items like bread and pasta, and instead, has a lot of vegetables, lentils, and nuts to go with his high-protein diet.
Another everyday thing that Hamilton completely overlooks while eating is items that contain sugar. The Mercedes star revealed that he has products containing sugar on very rare occasions.
Lewis Hamilton doesn’t eat cake or chocolate on his own birthday
Having birthday cakes is probably one of the traditions that most people and even athletes sometimes follow. Unfortunately for Hamilton, his birthday is on the 7th of January, which is right in the middle of the training season. To keep his workout and shape in check, Hamilton never has cake, chocolates or anything unhealthy on his big day.
Hamilton avoids having too much sugar and revealed that his ideal amount of sugar intake doesn’t exceed six grams. As a result, the 38-year-old usually fulfills that intake by having different kinds of fruit, which is a healthy practice.
This is a diet Hamilton has been following for a long time. The Stevenage-born driver describes it as “not the most exciting, but fun” diet.
How long will Hamilton remain in F1?
Lewis Hamilton made his F1 debut in 2007 and has achieved just about everything in the sport. He has broken all F1 records with his sights set on one last record he is chasing- moving past Michael Schumacher as the driver with the most number of world championships (8).
At 38, a lot of drivers are either retired or considering hanging up their helmets, but Hamilton has shown no signs of wanting to leave F1. His extraordinary physique and mental resistance makes him want to keep going on, and achieve more.
