Being a sport where succeeding requires a lot of financial backing, Lando Norris was always destined to rise to the top. He started earning big money after his star status was achieved with McLaren, but Norris was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Even before making it big in F1, Norris led a very luxurious lifestyle, which contributed to his success in Formula 1.
Born in Bristol to one of the city’s richest families, Norris was always inclined towards pursuing a career in motorsports. At a young age, Norris’ parents realized that he wasn’t taking his studies seriously, as stated by F1Focus139 on YouTube. Norris studied at the Millfield School in Somerset but dropped out to chase his dream.
Norris moved to Glastonbury, where he could continue with his studies as a ‘day pupil’. However, he spent most of his time in the world of motorsports, which soon turned into his full-time passion. Norris comes from money, with his parents’ estimated net worth being around $250 million according to The Sun. As a result, they supported him through and through when he decided to leave his education behind altogether.
Lando Norris wanted to become a Moto GP rider and follow hero Valentino Rossi
Norris went to Glastonbury to pursue his dream, but reaching F1 was not the first thing he had in mind. Seven-time Moto GP World Champion Valentino Rossi was the Bristol-born driver’s first idol, and to follow in his footsteps, Norris wanted to be a motorbike racer.

However, he started his career in karting, which is where he began climbing the ranks. After winning multiple championships and world titles as a child, McLaren took notice of his talent and signed him into their program. Finally, in 2019, he made it to the pinnacle of motorsports, when he joined the Woking-based squad as an F1 driver alongside Carlos Sainz.
Over the years, Norris has gone on to become one of the biggest talents in F1 and is eagerly waiting for the next step, that allows him to compete for the world championship.
Norris: A world champion in the making
Norris has been with McLaren since 2019, the entirety of F1 career so far. He has six podium finishes with the team from Surrey to date, but is desperate to start winning. Until 2021, progress looked inevitable at McLaren but they have fallen off massively since the new regulations hit in 2022.
Unfortunately for Norris, 2022 was the year he signed a new contract that will keep him at McLaren until 2025. It is unclear whether his $80 million contract has any exit clause or not. However, Norris, who has gone on to build his own net worth of a whopping $30 million, is definitely one of the sport’s biggest talents. The 23-year-old is widely expected to win a world championship if he is provided with a car capable enough.
