Max Verstappen can't be simply beaten by Sergio Perez because of this reason, claims Mexican driver's former aide

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez had a strong start to the 2022 season. He won the pole position in Saudi Arabia and went on to secure P2 in Australia, Emilia – Romagna and Spain before winning the Monaco GP.

But as the season progressed and Red Bull upgraded its car he started to feel more uncomfortable while his teammate Max Verstappen started to perform better.

At the FIA Prize Giving Gala, Perez however said that going ahead he wants to make another shot at the title in 2023. But his old manager Adrian Fernandez does not think that Perez would succeed in achieving that.

Fernandez thinks that Verstappen is just operating on another level and has the calibre of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

The Dutchman according to Fernandez is not someone who Perez can simply beat. the 25-year-old hardly makes any mistakes and he is very good at overcoming a setback.

Sergio Perez will need to make a big step to beat Verstappen

While Fernandez believes in Perez’s abilities he thinks that it will require a big step from the Mexican to be able to beat Verstappen.

He further explained the Motorsport.com that it’s not just about how Perez drives, it is about how he works with the engineers to get the car modified as per his needs.

Being fast over a lap once or finishing a session on top or winning a race, won’t completely satisfy the criteria needed to win a championship season.

Max Verstappen is virtually untouchable

Moreover, even if Perez improves a lot, still a lot of job awaits him. Because Verstappen hardly makes any mistakes and even if something does go wrong he knows how to overcome that.

For instance in Austin, he faced some problems in Austin in the pits but he still raced as if he were fighting in a championship battle.

Concluding his statements, Fernandez said that if Perez succeeds in beating the Dutchman he will automatically become immortal because then he will have defeated the best driver of the moment.
