Mercedes Tipped to Make Giant Leap in Competition for 2024, Claims Rival Boss After Revealing Why the Ball Is in Silver Arrows’ Court
Mercedes for the last two years is unable to be replicate the success it saw for almost the entirety of the last decade. The majority of it is because they failed to bring out the suitable concept under the new regulation that could have maintained their dominance. But now, as per Motorsport-Total.com, as reported by Junaid on Twitter, McLaren, the rivals of Mercedes, boss Andrea Stella reveals that the Brackley-based-team is set to make a giant leap next year, as according to him they know what they have to do to succeed.
Ever since the new aero regulations kicked off, Red Bull has by far the most dominant side. Others are yet to catch up. But the end of the 2023 season has shown that making a rapid progress isn’t tough.
And for next year, other teams are aiming to close the gap against Red Bull as much as possible. Therefore, amidst the mix, Mercedes, which is the closest side to Red Bull would be fancying a shout in the title challenge. But for that a lot of work needs to be done.
Mercedes will make a giant leap; McLaren boss gives heads up
With the last leg of the season going on, most of the teams have already started working on the next year’s car. And seeing that in view, Stella thinks Mercedes is set to make a good rise in the order.
“We must never forget Mercedes, because I think the team now knows which areas they need to work on,” warns Stella and emphasizes: “I think the racing team will make a big leap.”

But on the other hand, there is not much optimism shared by the top brass at Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton don’t even see his team challenging Red Bull for the third year in a row. But what led to that pessimism?
Hard to make that rise
During the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull was at the top once again. Particularly Mercedes was recording an almost 1 second time behind Max Verstappen per lap. Thus, reflecting on his team’s progress, Hamilton doesn’t think Silver Arrows would be challenging next year.
Though, that isn’t an isolated opinion on the grid. Even Charles Leclerc thinks about Ferrari in the same way, and believes Red Bull would have a seamless title win campaigns until the end of this regulations.
Positively, Tobi Gruner recently revealed the latest 2026 tech rules on AMuS. With that it remains to be seen who will be the new hegemon.
