Mick Schumacher May Quash the ‘American Dream’ as He Lines Up for Interesting Comeback to F1
For the first time since 2015, Formula 1 got its first American driver Logan Sargeant. However, that resurgence might die down as recent rumors suggest that Mick Schumacher could replace the Williams driver.
According to a report by Soymotor Sports, Schumacher is lined up to get his F1 comeback at Williams. This development comes after Sargeant’s points drought in the season’s first five races. Compared to his teammate Alex Albon, he stands a point behind, but still, he hasn’t managed to beat the Thai-born driver even once when both have completed the race.
Though the report also further states that more than performances, it’s rooted in Toto Wolff’s interest in getting Schumacher back in F1. Since the 24-year-old is under his fold, he wouldn’t want the former F2 champion to be out of action for two years.
“I hope he gets a chance driving in F1 again already next year. If he keeps his effort up he’ll surely get it” – George Russell believes for a comeback of Mick Schumacher pic.twitter.com/SYqGy5MO49

Mick Schumacher: A reliable plan for Mercedes
Mercedes boss Wolff is known for having the perfect succession plan within his team. And Lewis Hamilton, who is on the verge of getting retired, would be leaving a big void in the team.
Therefore, Schumacher, who is hailed as one of the brightest talents in F1, could be a likely candidate to replace Hamilton in the future. But for that, the 2020 F2 champion would need constant time in a car, just like George Russell.
So, Williams, who is Mercedes’ customer team, can be a possible destination for the German race driver if they look for an upgrade over Sargeant. Once groomed enough, Wolff can map a plan to bring Schumacher to Mercedes and extend his father’s legacy.
Is there a vacancy?
So, in a nutshell, seeing Sargeant‘s lack of performances, Wolff would be interested in inquiring about Schumacher getting a seat. This situation also favors Wolff, as his former aide James Vowles, who is now leading the Grove-based team.
But that’s not enough, as Vowles would seek William’s interest first. However, Schumacher is definitely a replacement Williams could fancy having in their team.
Now, it remains to be seen whether this builds up into anything or dies down as just another rumor. But surely, if Sargeant continues to perform like this, then something could turn up for Schumacher.
