Before 2021, Lewis Hamilton had another dramatic end to the season. That time, it was not someone from the outside but within his home— Mercedes. Nico Rosberg and Hamilton’s rivalry peaked in 2016.

The championship fight between the two went on till the last day, and Rosberg came out victorious with him having five points more than the Briton. Though, surprisingly Hamilton had more wins than Rosberg over the season.

Thus, it was the little battles the German race driver had won to get his maiden championship. But it was a tough battle. Beating Hamilton was so tough that not even a week passed before Rosberg announced his retirement from F1.

How Nico Rosberg’s wife played an important role in beating Lewis Hamilton

Rosberg has constantly reiterated that beating Hamilton took a massive toll on him, and even affected his family. In 2016, the former Mercedes star revealed how his wife Vivian Rosberg always remained like a rock for him and helped him to defeat his biggest nemesis.

“She understood that this year was the big one, our opportunity to do it, and created the space for me to get full recovery between every race, looking after our daughter each night, taking over when things got tough and putting our championship first,” said Rosberg.

During the celebrations in Abu Dhabi. Apart from Rosberg, his wife looked like the happiest person on earth. In the end, it was all worth it for the F1 couple.

How did he meet his wife?

While Hamilton, in his long F1 career, has been linked with several models. His contemporary Rosberg has reportedly been with Vivian since their childhood. Apparently, their families have known each other for a long time, and that’s how they know each other.

The couple finally got married in 2014. And only a couple of years later, Rosberg quit competing in F1. Though, he kept making appearances as a presenter or in the commentary. He also keeps his YouTube channel active, talking about all cars and F1-related things.

Apart from that, he has also invested in an Extreme E Racing team. His rival Hamilton also has a side there, and the outfits in 2022 closely contested for the title. Though, the Briton once again had the upper hand.

But Rosberg, in the end, comes in the minority of those people who defeated the seven-time world champion in the same car. And he’s the first one to win the title along the way.
