“Oh My God, We Were Crazy”: Charles Leclerc Stutters While Explaining His Childhood Fire Extinguisher Prank

Charles Leclerc is one of the most respected drivers on the current F1 grid because of his innocence and the amount of time he gives to his fans. However, few are aware of the Monegasque’s fondness to play pranks.

Since moving to Ferrari in the 2019 season, the 25-year-old has played several pranks with his team. However, there is one prank from his karting days that he remembers vividly. When asked about the same in a recent interaction, Leclerc seemed almost ashamed of what he did.

What prank did Charles Leclerc play during his karting days?

In the most recent edition of F1’s “Never Have I Ever,” all drivers were asked to reveal if they had ever played a prank with their team. While Leclerc did not show any hesitation in admitting that he has played a prank, he did seem uncomfortable in revealing what he did.

When asked about the same, the 25-year-old replied, “Oh my God! We were crazy, especially in karting days“. And as soon as he was beginning to reveal what he did, Leclerc hilariously said, “I cannot say it on camera“. However, he went ahead and revealed what he did anyways.

“I woke him up with a fire extinguisher,” Leclerc said with a laugh. “That is quite a hardcore prank but it was fun. We were young. I was probably 13 or 14“. And 10 years later, Leclerc has not stopped playing pranks with his F1 teams. The only difference is that some of these pranks have almost given a “heart attack” to his teams.

Leclerc once played a hilarious pranked with his engineers

Charles Leclerc played a hilarious prank with his Ferrari engineers after the Bahrain Grand Prix last year. This was the same venue where the Monegasque had failed to win the race back in 2019 due to engine troubles after having led it until that point.

And three years after that heart-breaking moment, Leclerc had not forgotten about it. Just this time, he used it as an opportunity to play a prank wtih his engineers.

Soon after the Monegasque started his final lap in the lead of the race in Bahrain last year, Leclerc decided to joke with his engineers about a loss of power. “I did a bit of a joke on the radio on the last lap, saying there was something strange with the engine,” he told Sky Sports F1 (as quoted by The Independent).

Leclerc then stated that while his engineers did not enjoy his joke, he had fun cracking it. Both these moments clearly show that Leclerc has a good sense of humor and is not afraid of playing a prank on anybody.
