“Renault have a works team. I can hardly imagine we would get a power unit with which we could compete successfully in races,” Tost told Motorsport-Magazin.com.
“You have to assume Red Bull and [Red Bull owner] Mateschitz have different demands. They want to compete in the World Championship. They need the appropriate power unit material.”
Tost also said that Red Bull needs engine freeze nod as soon as possible, as it would need to start its 2022 project. Meanwhile, blames the manufacturing teams for delaying the approval.
“This is the usual game of the manufacturers who are in the lead,” said the Austrian. “Even if they keep saying they agree, basically they don’t agree, and they just want to buy time.”

While Red Bull worked hard to lobby engine freeze demands, FIA and Formula 1 has initiated meetings to decide on the plea made by the Milton Keynes based team.

So far, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has given his unofficial word on the engine freeze, where he openly said that this regulation would benefit all the teams and not only Red Bull.
Moreover, according to reports, engine freeze will also ease the stress of the teams amidst the budget caps imposed by FIA. Now, only a confirmation statement is required from the governing bodies.
