Resurfaced Max Verstappen Tweets Are Hilariously Out of Character Including Bizarre Mercedes F1 Shoutout

Max Verstappen has been notorious for his “Mad Max” persona. a rightfully earned nickname, the driver is known for his ruthlessness both on and off the track. It has become an ingrained image within fans, as he is often considered one of the villains in the F1 story.

However, there was once a time when he was just a nervous little boy using smiley emojis in his tweets. Fans have dug up tweets dating back to 2012, where Verstappen was the opposite of what he’s currently perceived to be.

The Red Bull driver who throws a fit at finishing second, was all jolly with a P7 finish not too long ago. The tweet from 2015 read: “What a race! Really happy to finish 7th 🙂 [sic]”

There’s a lot more where that came from, but the tweets to Mercedes take the cake. “Special mention. Thanks to Mercedes for posting nice stuff about me 🙂 Will try to keep it up in the next races.” Little did he know that a few years into the future, he’d be in a full-fledged war with the team and their lead driver. Simpler times.

Rest assured, fans were more than entertained. The tweets were so unlike Verstappen– positive, innocent, and simply lovely. Although glimpses of his former self slip through in interviews and PR challenges, it’s far from the image he’s made for himself in recent times.

Fans shocked at Innocent Max Verstappen

The post soon gained popularity among fans as it’s difficult not to stop and stare. Truly magnificent. Fans couldn’t help but chuckle at how different Verstappen once was. As one fan stated they “couldn’t imagine him typing that” The language used is so glaring different from the angry profanities we’re used to today.

People were clearly in shock by the good lad persona. Unrecognizable, almost.

The tweets with Mercedes were also a hit. The irony of it all just makes you shake your head.

In fact, people wished to see this energy today. Imagine Verstappen dolling out a tweet ending with 🙂 today. The internet would shatter, and planets would collide.

However, it is Verstappen’s steely exterior that makes him the tough competition he is today. Softening him up could be a whole Pandora’s box no one wants to open really. Let’s stick to the “Mad Max” and “Dutch Lion” who lights up the radio waves with asterisks.
