Sebastian Vettel to Haas F1: Team Principal speaks on whether Haas would be willing to offer Vettel a 2021 lifeline
The Sebastian Vettel transfer saga has been rumbling on ever since it was confirmed Ferrari will not be continuing with him beyond 2020. After numerous rejections, he is finally being offered a lifeline by American Haas F1 team.
Things haven’t gone as per plan for the four-time champion Sebastian Vettel. He has been ruled out of a 2021 seat by all all the major teams in the current paddock.
Renault followed suit on Wednesday, after they got in their legendary former driver Fernando Alonso. He will partner Esteban Ocon for the 2021 season. Alonso will replace Daniel Riccairdo, who is switching to McLaren to replace Carlos Sainz instead. Carlos Sainz, incidentally, will be taking Vettel’s seat in Ferrari after the latter leaves the Italian outfit.
Vettel’s former team Red Bull was the next to distance themselves from their former champion. Both Helmut Marko and Team Principal Christian Horner made it clear they are happy with Max Verstappen and Alex Albon.
Racing Point put the final nail in the coffin on Friday, after they confirmed during the practice session at the Red Bull Ring that they don’t have “any space in the team.”

Haas seem willing to offer Vettel a seat
“He’s a four-time world champion.” said Team Principal Guenther Steiner. “Does he want to come to a smaller team? What does he want to do in life? I don’t know.
“If he wants to do something, for sure, we’ve got a good relationship.”

He also gave his views on why Vettel has struggled to find a team for him so far.
“There are times when there would be three teams fighting for him, and this year there is nobody. We had the same last year with [Nico] Hulkenberg.”
He was also asked if Haas will announce a driver line-up for next season, like McLaren and Renault have done. He quipped: “I’m not worried about not being able to find a driver because Sebastian Vettel is on the market!”
